THE ROLE OF SOCIAL ENGINEERING IN PREDICTING ECONOMIC GROWTH

Summary

Studies have shown that the development of innovative technologies in hierarchical (collectivist) societies is at a much lower level than in horizontal (individualistic) ones. In the context of this approach, this study examines the values and norms that are prevalent in Georgian society. Studies have shown that the social values of hierarchy and priority in Georgia have a significant impact on the individual. The main goal in a hierarchical society is to be closer to the state, because it concentrates resources and distributes them. Horizontally, the realization of one’s own knowledge and talents that turns into a public good. Nevertheless, some forms of collectivism stimulate innovative development. For Georgia, it is important not to blindly copy Western values and institutions (both formal and informal), but to adapt their own values to these institutions.
